It's been a tumultuous week. Manchester. Trump in Saudi. Trump muscling to the front at NATO. Attacks in Egypt. My heart is burdened as I think of the important issues that the world faces today. We live in an ultra connected world where immediately communicated events can overwhelm us. In such a world we need at times to have the familiar around us. And the familiar for me is my Saturday morning ritual in Killiney Road in Singapore. Did I forget the tragic events of this week? Of course not, and even if I did the papers trumpeted them loud and clear.
But in this world in which we live, all of us need ZONES OF STABILITY, places with which we are familiar and where we can feel at home. The coffee house at Killiney Road is such a place for me - my favourite newspaper, my favourite coffee, my favourite breakfast. Somehow Saturday morning breakfast here brings my soul back to my centre, so that I can face the terrible issues confronting the world today. I pray for those suffering in the world today, for the shattered families who are facing this w/e with empty places at the table. I pray for the strength and vision to do my best to help find solutions. But to find that strength I need my ZONE OF STABILITY.
Thank you Killiney Road. Where is your zone of stability ?
