Review of Rebecca Morgan’s Session – Making Money in Your Jammies

Creating Income from Blogs, Teleseminars, Webinars and Subsequent Products

Reviewed by Cynthia Zhai

Have you ever seen a speaker speak with pyjamas on?

That’s how Rebecca Morgan started off her session. Wearing a white bathrobe, she shared how she made a lot of money just by staying at home with her jammies on!

Don’t you love that? Not having to wake up early, put on make-up and a ‘looking-good-yet-uncomfortable’ suit, and rushing to the office? That was exactly one of the benefits Rebecca mentioned for making money in your jammies, with another two being: saving costs for both you and your participants, and selling immediately (e.g. right after your webinar, you can sell the recording).

The reason we can now all make money in our jammies is the change in the industry. More and more speaking and training engagements are done via the Internet and as speakers we need to be adaptable and able to meet the demands.

A very important concept Rebecca introduced was “Are you looking at the wrong thing?” When it comes to holding webinars or teleseminars, most speakers worry that they won’t get enough participants, while overlooking that it doesn’t matter how many participants they get; all that matters is they can record the session and sell it afterwards.

Rebecca then introduced her three business models. Her first business (RebeccaMorgan.com) serves her corporate clients. Her other businesses (growyourkeytalents.com, makingmoneyinjammies.com, speakernetnews.com) helps her make money from teleseminars, webinars and products. Her third business is her secret identity and helps her create income in blogs and books.

Rebecca introduced the key ways for speakers to make money in their jammies. First were teleseminars and webinars, as mentioned above. The second way is to sell subscriptions, which is how speakernetnews.com works. People can buy a monthly subscription, get notice for every teleseminar, and buy the recording at a lower price. Interestingly, our APSS past President Nishant Kasibhatla is one of the subscribers!

The third way is to create home-study courses, which could be on CD or DVD. It’s usually set at a higher price level. The fourth way is by writing a blog, and the key to this being successful is using the right is keywords. Create keywords for your blog posts and you’ll attract people to find you through Google. This is how Rebecca’s third business succeeded.

The fifth way to make money is through cross-promotion. Take one chapter from each of your books and make it into a new book. It not only gives you a new book but also helps promote your other books.

From Rebecca Morgan’s session, you’ll find making money can be that easy. And the ideas are all around us. So, what is the one thing you are going to do to bring more money while you are in your jammies?
